I Saw The Light

Tom Hiddleston dons the white Stetson to play country & western legend Hank Williams in this solid biopic. The singer and songwriter - who penned classics including Lovesick Blues and You're Cheatin' Heart - succumbed to an early drink problem while serial infidelities eventually took toll on his career and long-suffering marriage to fellow musician Audrey Mae Williams (Elizabeth Olsen). He died aged 29. Director Marc Abraham ticks all the biopic boxes but it's Hiddleston's lean performance that engages.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows

The sewer-dwelling super team have got a lot on their plate in this action-packed sequel. Half of them have had enough of all the secrecy and fancy mixing it up with the New Yorkers they so regularly save, a fact which means there's tension in the ranks just as nemesis Shredder busts out of police custody and goes on the rampage. He's got no less than world domination in his sights, hooking up with the mighty Krang in a bid to destroy life as we know it. Megan Fox returns as April O'Neil and Arrow's Stephen Amell joins the fray as hockey-masked vigilante Casey Jones.

The Greasy Strangler

Father and son fall for the same girl in Jim Hosking's grotesque horror comedy. The result is a love triangle that gets - well - greasy, as disco burnout Big Ronnie (Michael St Michaels) and dopey son Brayden (Sky Elobar) allow their lust for the flirtatious Janet (Elizabeth De Razzo) to spiral wildly out of control. It's Big Ronnie who does most of the damage - mostly because he moonlights as a wild-eyed maniac who dunks himself in vats of oil before heading out to strangle half the neighbourhood. Weird, witty and gleefully depraved; cult horror fans will be gagging for it.

Year: 2016

Duration: 1hr 29m

Cast: Michael St Michaels, Sky Elobar, Elizabeth De Razzo, Gil Gex, Abdoulaye NGom, Holland MacFallister, Sam Dissanayake

Men & Chicken

Family secrets come crawling out the woodwork in a darkly comic tale that's part Farrelly brothers farce and part Kafka-esque nightmare. David Dencik (Regression) and the mighty Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale, Hannibal) play bickering odd-couple brothers who discover - through their father's will - that they're adopted. Determined to get the bottom of things they head off to a remote island where their real dad - a geneticist - is said to be holed up. Upon arrival they're greeted by a trio of Stooge-like oddballs battering each other with stuffed animals and rolling pins. It turns out they're all related...

Despite being ordered to back off, Mack goes on a mission to track the guy down. Over the course of the day, the reasons for Mack's relentless pursuit become clear as the dark history between the pair is gradually revealed. But not before other people are caught in the crossfire.
