Angelina Jolie's second directorial feature outing follows the incredible journey of Italian-American Olympian Louis "Louie" Zamperini, admirably played by British talent Jack O'Connell. After running in the 1936 Berlin Olympics, the former small-town delinquent became a bombardier whose aircraft ditched in the Pacific. Surviving the crash, he spent almost 50 days at sea, drifting 2,000 miles into the clutches of the Japanese, who interned him in brutal POW camps until the end of WWII. But he survived. A solid, good-looking adventure that celebrates the unbreakable tenacity of its hero.
