Fred MacMurray plays a wacky inventor who accidentally discovers a rubbery formula to make things fly. There's sterling support from James Westerfield as a continually bewildered cop, and from Keenan Wynn, making the first of several appearances in Disney comedies as the crooked financier Alonzo Hawk, a role he was still playing as late as 1974 in Herbie Rides Again. Remade as the blockbuster special-effects fantasy Flubber in 1997.
